By decree No. 136/CSB/NNL of 21 October 2026, His Majesty the Superior Chief creates the Bandoumkassa Traditional Music Group (GMTB), placed under his authority.
What the decree provides
- Name and supervision (articles 1 and 2): the GMTB answers to the Superior Chiefdom.
- Remit (articles 3 to 5): the GMTB alone may play the Tam Tam of lamentation at funerals throughout the Group; it has no exclusive right for other events.
- Calling on the group (articles 6 and 7): hiring the GMTB costs a flat fee set by the decree.
- Organisation (articles 8 to 12): a head, a deputy head, family liaison officers, a treasurer, and officers in charge of transporting and maintaining the equipment.
- Final provisions (articles 13 and 14).
The decree rests in particular on Law No. 90/053 of 19 December 1990, Decree No. 77/245 of 15 July 1977 on the organisation of traditional chiefdoms, and the resolutions of the General Assembly of Notables.
